Wonderful Windows: A Crystal Clear Window Blog

Welcome to my window blog. My name is Christy, and this is one of a series of blogs I am making about homes and home repairs. I was inspired to write about these topics after remodelling our home and replacing a lot of elements like the windows. I am going to write about everything from choosing the right windows for your climate to keeping your glass squeaky clean. I hope that you like reading these blogs -- if they inspire or help you, share them with your friends on Facebook, Twitter or whatever social media you like! Thanks again for reading and enjoy!

Why You Should Consider a Custom Sliding Door Design for Your Home

by Carla Johnson

Creating a unique living space is something many homeowners set as a goal. This means creating specific bedroom, living room and even patio themes. The entire look of your unique space can be derailed by one simple aspect. If your doorway does not fit into the theme of the room, it can make the area look unfinished. Custom sliding doors may help with your design options and goals. Here are some of the reasons why you should consider custom doors for your home decor ideas and goals.

Sliding Barn-Style Doors

There are two popular home designs that share the same custom door ideas. Cottage core and farmhouse designs share a sliding barn-style door for entrance into kitchens, living rooms or as a decorative partition between other rooms. There are several ways you can customize the sliding barn-style doors. The customization can start with the type of wood you want to use and move on to the type of hardware. For example, you may want oak wood for the door with wrought iron accents. There are also other custom options available depending on your style and the company you choose.

Wardrobe Sliding Doors

Sometimes the closet or wardrobe can be the most difficult areas to design. This is especially true when it comes to the doors. A sliding wardrobe door can not only bring your bedroom together but also create an entryway into a wardrobe that is breathtaking. For example, you may want to create a multi-color teakwood door that looks more like wall art than a door. This works well with both track-operated custom sliding doors and with pocket door designs. You can also create the design, wood tones, and hardware to add as much custom flare to the door as possible.

Glass Sliding Doors

Glass sliding doors are a popular addition to many bathrooms. You may think your only option is to keep the traditional glass appearance with chrome-style hardware. You do have more creativity available to you than that. You can choose the glass you want, the shade or texture of the glass door and even the frame. For example, if you have a spa theme bathroom, you may want to choose a frameless glass door with a frosted texture or design.

You may be unsure of what custom designs are available to you. If you have ideas, take them to a local custom sliding door dealer. They will help take your designs to create the ideal doors for your home. They can also create doors for multiple areas of your home such as your bedrooms, bathrooms, and patios. If you have specific needs for your sliding doors, discuss them with your door contractor. They can answer questions regarding those needs and how to move forward with your design plans.
